I'm 3 days in BF(2042), totally a newcomer, and I think it is safe to say that I am fond of this game already!
The term "Battlefield" is used really well, I love the big maps where you have action all around the map (like sniper shots from a kilometer apart), it brings a literal battlefield vibe and I LOVE IT! I'm so glad that they made a discount on steam, I'm pretty sure that brought a bunch of newcomers like me!

Any game will increase in player count because of events and sales. That isn't indicative of games having a resurgence. That's keeping a patient that's on the verge of death from dying. It's still a matter of time, they're just prolonging it. They're doing an alright job of doing that though. Especially with the event that actually makes the game feel like Battlefield.

It's funny that I have been playing Planetside 2 lately for the "battlefield" experience....I recently re-downloaded BF2042 and I am pretty happy with where it is sitting now. Now I know it's not perfect BUT they are bringing it back slowly just like BF4 ( lets hope we can all say in a few years that 2042 is just as good as the old titles.) :)

@SquidG I am one of guys that never bought it when it came out, 2042 was hiked up and after playing the demo abandoned it and moved on. Since watching you play it recently I found it to be on sale, I paid the £14.99 and have been playing it - to be honest it has its issues but I am getting a felling of the old BF3 & BF4 feel, but its missing something still, its not speaking to me. @@SQUiD-GNot a dig at you or the video but as of a few days ago I purchased this hot pile of trash on Steam and I only did it because going in I was aware of matches against bots and the endless potential of the Portal feature. That being said I got it on sale at a super discount and have loved my experience when we are simply discoursing about bot matches and private custom matches against bots using the Portal feature. When it comes down to everything else, against real players, especially on PC that's when all the issues that plague this game become apparent and fast. Battlefield 2042 just needs a new approach to rebalancing but unfortunately I don't think EA sees enough potential of dedicating resources to fixing their game and as it is right now the product is serviceable and most definitely they will instead continue to focus on the next Battlefield game. As a solo queue player, regular multiplayer against real opponents is somehow worse than the state of Black Ops 6 at the moment and Hazard Zone is practically a dead game mode at this point. What I would like to see is Hazard Zone get added to Portal and some form of traditional style Battle Royale, until then, the game is ok and scratches a certain itch. Where the game shines for me is in the graphical fidelity, yes Battlefield 1 is technically "prettier" and more realistic, but I hate the World War setting and aesthetic so much that I don't much care for Battlefield 1 but will openly admit it is by far one if not the best in the franchise.
