oh my god thats me. Hi, ill expand on what i said

So no unfortunately i am not a valheim developer, i took a game design course during college which focused on the more creative aspects, but since i had been coding, making models and such this was somewhat wasted on me, so i submitted job applications to a handful of studios just showing sme of my code, model and texture examples, writing examples etc, i am truly a jack of all trades since i am also interested in things like marketing, data analytics etc. i should note that when i was applying for these jobs i was 17
i did eventually get somewhat of an internship deal, basically if i did well id be brought on full time which i did until i was around 18 where i began to work as a software engineer, moving to america during the shortage of software engineers to basically double my pay

so whilst i am not a developer of valheim and i have not even developed a similar game for a company, this is why im good at putting myself in a developers shoes and putting aside what i want, what i know the community wants vs what i think the developers will do

touching on what i said about the ice, it is not big sheets of ice like i would expect when the deep north releases, but hexagons, slightly bigger than a 2x2 build piece that float closer to the land, as though they have been broken away from the larger sheet
as i remember them, you can stand on them and they dont do damage to you nor does the water, but it has physics to it, if you run to one end the opposite end tips up
to speak on what i said about the mechanic of the ice breaking under you, it is exactly as he says, for the purpose of game balancing so the biome is hard locked behind the ship in the same way ashlands is. though it does not make sense for the context, it does make sense in game logic, thing of any game that wants to lock you with ice, the ice breaks under you, the player drowns

the idea of a polar bear doesnt just come from my gut but it fits with the biome progression, they have made things hit harder and harder, no animal on our planet hits harder than a bear, nords had a saying about the strength of bears, something about them having the strenth of 11 men and the intelligence to match it, so yes i think ice bears would fit here much better than dire wolfs, though it pains me to say that.
i think another driving reason for picking a bear would be that they dont want to make mountains 2.0, they want to differenciate it from the mountains so just making a bigger wolf even if it was a new model wouldnt align with what theyre thinking, though i dont think it excludes the possibility of there being dire wolves

speaking on the jotunbane, weapons given in one biome are usually useful in the next, so far the only thing the jotunbane is good at is chopping down trees, i would need to check but i believe poison has the most things immune to it in the game which may be why theres only 2 weapons with innate poison damage
given that the jotun bane directly references jotun who are tied to the deep north, im confident it will be one of the weapons strong there, and this is just the developers teasing us with the flavour text

speaking on the closing opinions of the video

i can somewhat agree with the article, i dont think they will make ashlands much more difficult than the deep north just considering the strength of the weapons we got in reference to the mobs, but there will definitely be difficult mobs, like the polar bear, i would not be surprised if it can one hit you if youre below 250HP, this is oddly specific but id imagine it does around 235 damage for a paw swipe, is weak to pierce damage, resistant to slash and blunt (i know thats oddly specific i promise im not a valheim developer leaking information) and i also imagine that like a lox the polar bear will have an attack where it comes onto two feet and slams down
whilst i would not say expect it to be more difficult, i would say expect it to be difficult for different reasons. in ashlands we struggle because of the number of mobs rather than their strength, in the deep north i think they will turn this on its head and put us against fewer mobs, but stronger ones, so imagine your first seeker soldier encounter for example, or your first gjall. i imagine that type of occasional difficult fight should be what we expect with the deep north

i can tell you that if we do get an ocean biome update (something i would not say is impossible) it will not be what people expect it to be. i dont think that a biome boss for the ocean is too crazy to speculate on, its just the matter of how they would do such a thing
viking raids are (so far) out of the question, it would be the little smurf people if anyone and it would not be a raid since they are passive until provoked
as much as i would love chitin weapons and serpent scale armor with a modifier "resistent to piece" just like the scale shield is, i dont think these things are likely. if they do come they will come after the deep north and 1.0
the serpent exists to make early to mid valheim scary, you have to use the water to bring precious metals home, the stakes are high. with the addition of the portal that allows you to teleport these metals in the ashlands and even a world modifier allowing you to teleport metals through any portal, i think the ocean has served its purpose, but you can also flip this idea on its head and say they might want to give us a reason to go back there
for me, i think if they wanted to give us a reason to go back there they simply wouldnt have given us the means to avoid it entirely in the first place, but that is just my personal opinion

i have spoke about exactly what is being discussed about the "new world" approach, youd kill the deep north boss, be greeted by odin, told about a "world boss" who upon defeat opens a portal to another "layer" world above your own, potentially with new biomes but more importantly, new resources, weapons and such
the only issue with this is how much content they already have packed into the game, we go there with our magic, our enchanted weapons, our pet polar bears and then what? we kill dragons to make dragon armors? we make gauntlets to finally use the fist skill outside of the fenris claws? what metals would we use? diamonds like in minecraft or would there be new made up metals?
this is a line where valheim stops sounding like valheim and more like modded valheim, whilst i would love this approach if it was done correctly, i dont believe they will do this

thank you again for speaking on my comment in this video, im glad you enjoyed my ideas
i dont want this game to die either but unfortunately theres very few ways to monetize a game like this successfully, this is a passion project made by a small team, sadly i do believe deep north will be the last update unless the 1.0 update blows up the game, even then i think updates would revisit the biomes and give them new life, like for example the black forest, though its pretty is only really useful for copper, you can skip it easily and farm surtling cores in the swamp which is what i do. they could give us brown bears in the black forest to breathe life into it, match gaps with weapons, so for example there is no silver atgeir- but i really do think the game is done after deep north

@@prodhero True modders carry games after devs stop working on them just look at Skyrim its awesome that the game is still alive bcs of modders.
@prodhero2024/08/22(木) 07:23
i've just been using mods for expanding the game in the ways i don't think developers will, there's a lot of creators who have made some really cool shit for valheim and i believe will continue to, even if the devs stop as is with most games modders will keep it alive, it's amazing some of the things they've managed to do, and combining them you can kinda make your own 'vanilla expanded'
@imbadatpickinganame2024/08/21(水) 08:11

There is a video by another youtuber that says smth very interesting. We've been having IN GAME dreams about a child in the snow, smth that apparently comes up in a lore stone in the ashlands where the kid is the one that corrupted the daddy. if that's the case there is speculation that the child is loki so maybe fighting fenrir as a final boss might make sense.
@ProfessionalMage2024/08/26(月) 10:43
Yeah as that developer said it think its gonna be a wariation of fenrir like special one for the final boss.
@jean-micheltanguay86642024/08/25(日) 01:56
Here is my guess:

- an icebreaker boat requiring flametal using the Fadder’s drop. Kinda like we turned black marble into ceramic plate for the Drakkar. The new maps have the North separated fron other biomes like Ashland is. So it’s without a surprise that a new boat will be needed to enter the Deep North.

- the flaming sword, forgot the name and not going to google it, is likely a weapon that will make the initial landing a little more tolerable. I’m glad they made a useful side quest out of it instead of the previous dungeons that unlocked clothing…

-mobs: i’m expecting to be bullied by frost giants, ice trolls, maybe some kind of yeti/snow walkers that rises from the snow like abominations do in the swamps.

-ridable/tamable: somekind of polar bear, wolf… sabertooth wolf or cat would be nice and similar in usage to askvins.

And as for the jotun bane… I just finished an axe playthrough and I ended up going back to my black metal axe instead of using that yellow thing until I was able to craft the berserker’s axes. I use them as wood chopping tools as well, they make you look like an angry lumberjack
@elgrifolorian2024/08/24(土) 07:33
Space biome and more worlds would be the natural next step id pay for that and more building pieces.
@J4rska2024/08/23(金) 05:28
I dont think they are going to allow us to go on branches of the world tree. I like the idea of the new ship however it kinda repeats the ashlands entry. I believe they could make some sort of "eternal flame fountain" or something like that which needs lets say black metal to be burn to make new item. That new item can be used in artisan table to craft a warming belt (megingjord + this new item) to survive in the Deep Norths extreme weather. Water could be euqualy deadly with the ashlands.
@bruckenpfeiler65502024/08/23(金) 01:23
jotun where the giants in norse mythology, no? ice giants would be sick!
@ProfessionalMage2024/08/23(金) 01:53
Yeah they would i talked about them in the last Deep North video people there had some rly good ideas for the update.
@captainfossil4772024/08/23(金) 12:49
Ships of Draugers on the ocean attacking the player on the ocean would be very fun!
@yagizc38422024/08/22(木) 08:24
we will see
it will be good
but all we need to do is wait
@HandyHanderson2024/08/22(木) 03:28
I know that based on the lore stones something like this probably wouldn't be a thing, but it would be interesting if the final boss would actually be a pair of bosses, akin to Skoll and Hati.
@ProfessionalMage2024/08/22(木) 08:46
U yeah that would be awesome but not likely to happen.
@ShadowGuadian2024/08/22(木) 03:20
I don't think it's likely, but I really hope the ship for the deep north isn't an ice breaker, but an airship. It would allow navigation over the treacherous ice onto safe land, and also open up late game mobility fantastically.
@ProfessionalMage2024/08/22(木) 08:45
Yeah i don't think that will happen but we can hope.
@cam_bone2024/08/21(水) 10:52
It should be a saber tooth tiger instead of a bear. And there better be cooler stuff than the mountains. Mountains suck
@ProfessionalMage2024/08/22(木) 08:52
Idk if mountains suck i did not find them that bothersome but we all find different thing interesting. I would also like a saber tooth but i doubt that but hey polar bears dont sound too bad ether if we can ride them!
@saltywaffles28022024/08/21(水) 10:12
I’m not a big fan of payed DLC but if the devs made a dlc that made the big tree an actual biome, i’d totally buy it
@ProfessionalMage2024/08/22(木) 08:49
@@Apatehaha Yeah the game is to cheep when you see what kind of junk is sold for 60-70$ today. I would love for them to start selling DLC's it would make it easier for the team of their size to survive and deliver us more content. But those DLC's would have to be big if they are gonna sell them not the size of Ashlands or Mistlands something BIG.
@Apatehaha2024/08/22(木) 03:43
High chance they wouldnt do it. Yet maybe idk. But yah, if they going to make it dlc i would buy them too, they deserve some of our money lol. The game is so much than the price
@dragonenchantress66092024/08/21(水) 03:33
Maybe we can keep our fingers crossed that the dev's will further develop the game beyond the deep north because of community push lol! But also, something that always irked me, is that if you look at the map it's just a flat disc. Is there an alternate side to the disc?

Yes there is and that side of the disc is called The Australialands! Final boss kangaroo... After you kill it you can ride in its pouch! And if they continue to develop the game they will need more money so they should start selling DLC's if they wanna stay on float.

@HandyHanderson2024/08/22(木) 03:31

@IDontKnow888892024/08/21(水) 11:43
I want FrostMetalOre. Yeah I want ore and yeti and dual swords and new ice staff and more decor and armor and new golem and animals and finally i want the place to be so cold that the wolf cape and meads are not strong enough to withstand the temperatures. ALSO wait I saw that in the comment section of Valheims channel. Some loser said that deep north is being updated along side the ocean i wish that was true
@mythicbuilds29512024/08/21(水) 10:29
If they name their new ore Frometal I will uninstall the game 😆
@ProfessionalMage2024/08/21(水) 01:09
Well we will get more ores probably and a good ice stuff would be good. In terms of ocean update i don't know people say that they scraped that stuff, but i sure would like to see it come back but not as something thrown in there with the deep north but as its own thing.
