Do you know if there is any way to hide the 1-8 item slot bar ? I'm playing VR and once I have the gear inventory extra slots the hotbar is stuck on my screen.

Need ark like mods
@ronynammour2025/03/17(月) 02:59
do the mods affect server joining? we tried to add a couple of mods but we were unable to join each other on the servers. we were stuck on a black screen.
we tried it both ways, i tried joining my friend's server and he tried to join mine.
or do we have to start a new one ?

Nice list, use most myself for vanilla plus runs...
Would add Compass and Sailing to the list 😊

if you are using mods it is, in my opinion, essential to have azumatts bepinex mod configuration menu. makes it so much easier than having to adjust files or use the r2modman configuration menus
@AzureSkyCiel2025/03/16(日) 09:25
Oddly, given how the feather cape works with the ashlands catapult, I'd say the Valkyrie summon may well be closer to how Iron Gate intends people to play than the backpack and equipment slots since they apparently have said "Managing your inventory is part of the challenge of the game!" (no, it's just part of what makes it tedious)
As a side note: Vanilla Plus, and you don't suggest Seasonality? It's a beautiful mod. Also, I like the Clutter mod for some additional housing decorations. Finally have a nice bookshelf and some full couches.

Torches eternal really unlocked my building.
I used to keep the light sources down to minimalist nightvision and always in easy reach.
With that mod I started lighting things up and even building beacons for my ships.

TLDR; I have three lists for this video, all of which are recommended, work with no issues together, and provide different levels of experience relative to vanilla. Some mods come with a performance hit, so run at your own risk. Each list has a description of why the mods are used, and how they work together to create a unique experience that i consider to be a finalized version of Valheim.
Vanilla-Plus list that is not very game-changing:
-Plant Everything
-Smooth Brain's Skills (minus Alchemy)
-Backpacks by Smoothbrain
-XPortal by SpikeHimself
-Teleport Everything by OdinPlus (Configured to only teleport animals, not ore)
-Torches Eternal
-Improved Boar
-EquipmentAndQuickSlots by RandyKnapp
-Mistroot Tamer by Azumatt
This small list is mostly QoL improvements that don't alter gameplay all too much, adding scalable exploration for exploring, sailing speed for sailing, as well as farming and ranching skills that make farming and ranching scalable. Backpacks that allow you to store more unique items while maintaining carry-weight limits means your long exploration sessions can stay long and rewarding. Improved Boar makes the Boar act like wolves in that you can ask them to follow/stay which makes capturing escaped boar, or building boar farms much easier, as well as moving them long distances via boat if you don't want to use Teleport Everything. Torches eternal because why would you make yourself have to farm thousands of extra wood just to keep your fires going? Equipment and Quick Slots adds a separate menu location for your equipped gear, as well as 3 quickslots which you can use for potions or food (Use it for potions though, having the ability to instantly heal 75 or 100 hp will genuinely save your life). Mistroot Tamer is my preferred way of dealing with mistlands mist, since it feels a lot more natural than altering the wisplights original radius. This puts little buds down on the ground in the mistlands that you can "tame" and clear the mist in a small region for 10 minutes or longer (If you configure it), keeping the original functionality of the mistlands in tact. XPortal adds a portal menu that allows you to set a "Home" portal so that any portal placed automatically connects to it. It basically removes the need to have 2 portals for every location you want to teleport to. Cuts down on the amount of portals you have to make just to experience the ability to travel.
For a more game-altering experience I recommend Therzie's mods:
-Monstrum
-Monstrum Fire and Ice
-Warfare
-Warfare Fire and Ice
-Wizardry
-Armory
These add additional mobs to every biome that are more challenging than the original monsters you find (Bears especially), including magic-wielding enemies at early stages. It adds a magic progressions system that STARTS in the black forest and scales to the mistlands, where magic was initially introduced. This also adds new food recipes for health and stamina, but also Eitr in early stages of the game. This set of mods also adds a progressive armor system focused on individual weapon types that make generating actual builds something you can do instead of just crafting the most recent heavy or light armor set. This also expands the weapon list to include dual wielded weapons, a sledgehammer attack pattern overhaul, and 2 handed weapons starting in the meadows. I highly recommend this as it will expand upon the experience in Valheim such that it will increase playability. This also follows vanilla progression, and does not allow you to recieve materials earlier than expected (IE Finewood before bronze axe like Outlanders does). It is a moderate challenge increase while expanding the content available.
Now we have to talk about the cherry on top - these are mods that significantly alter the difficulty or gameplay of the game to a degree that vanilla will be completely ruined for you, and you will no longer wish to play vanilla ever again. These mods come with the caveat that I understand that people enjoy Jewelcrafting. I'm here to tell you that these people are objectively wrong, and it is NOT the better system to implement into the game over EpicLoot. Those who denegrate EpicLoot have simply not used EpicLoot_Balanced, or CLLC to increase the difficulty along with the power gained by using EL. These mods also will take a huge toll on your computer, and may impact performance in such a way that you may not be able to run it if you are not running a mid-range PC or better.
EpicLoot Suite
-EpicLoot by RandyKnapp
-EpicLoot_Balanced by JewelHeim
-EpicLoot_Therzie by JewelHeim
-Monstrum_Raids by JewelHeim
-Wizardry_Raids by JewelHeim
Seasonality Suite
-Seasonality by RustyMods
-SeasonalityTextures by RustyMods
-SeasonalTweaks by Rustymods
-Seasonality_HD_Texture_Pack by RustyMods
EpicLoot adds a diablo-style loot system where items can drop as common, uncommon, rare, epic, legendary, and mythic. It also adds a bounty system, which adds special enemies that have boss healthbars and increased damage and are generated randomly on the map (Although emphasized to parts of the map you have yet to explore.) If you do not use EpicLoot_Balanced, almost every enemy in the game will be a loot pinata, which kind of defeats the purpose of adding extra progression systems. EpicLoot_Therzie exists so that the EpicLoot system works with Therzie's weapons, armor, and monsters added to the game. Monstrum_Raids and Wizardry_Raids add Therzie's monsters to the raid system so that you can be attacked by the magical enemies. Seasonality changes a core function of the game and works in Tandem with Smoothbrain's Skills for things like Farming. Seasonality adds seasons to the game, Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, and will change textures of the trees, grass, ocean, etc. to follow the season you currently exist in. This also makes it so certain crops cannot be grown in certain seasons, however with the Farming Skill, as it levels up, you will be able to start planting regardless of biome and season. This adds more flavor to each biome as they each have different textures that become activated based on the season you're in. Valheim is already beautiful, but Seasonality takes it to another level. This mod does have a signficant performance impact, however.

Thanks! Two more must for me. FarmGrid, makes its easier to farm and get the spacing right. FuelEternal, never have to refill fires and torches.
@nicoyad2025/03/15(土) 11:57
Exactly the type of mods I have been looking for, thanks
@Bullminator2025/03/15(土) 11:29
You could probaly mod Valkyrie that it has a limitation how far she will take a player (like max 5km) and then it would be a 1h cooldown. Also you need to have a **you have died** recently debuff to be able to use it.
@Ponninftw2025/03/15(土) 09:23
I'm a weirdo, because I think the 'Plant Everything' is borderline cheating unless you play mostly to make base builds. On the other hand, a 'breed everything' mod would be amazing, regardless if you could tame animals or not, it should be able to breed leeches, neckers, deer in order to get those materials in order.
Anyone can build a portal farm for berries that's give you several stacks per run, but nobody wants to chase animals that are gonna be everywhere when you don't need them and nowhere when you need them, lol. Have deer needing a huge area to breed, have neckers having to be close to water and feeding on lilypads, have leeches only in swamp waters etc. I feel like this would just increase the fun parts of setting up animal farms and going on quests with more purpose than "I need to find 100 leeches and kill them for 1 hour"

@noahodum9737 hahah, the domestication of berries might be questioned by some cultures!
Jokes aside, I said I was the weirdo here. I get the convenience.
Dunno, berries and mushroom can be found in so many places that I just don't get why you should be able to plant it as soon as you find one of them. With onions, turnips and carrots it is rarer to find the seeds, whereas growing them is a more important thing.
If finding berry seeds would be just as rare, I'd say it would be more balanced. But raid 10 burial chambers and use the surtling cores to create a portal chain to the best berry spots works just as well. And I just have the opinion that it's more balanced than to immediately being able to ignore all the wild berry bushes on the map as soon as I found one of them.
So convenient? 100%, but that doesn't mean it's a balanced game mechanic.

Well, being able to harvest berries all in one location, or mushrooms makes life a bit more convenient. It's not necessarily bad, and if you wanted realism, humans domesticated berries thousands of years ago..

Awesome valheim content! Love adding mods this game!
@roeb42092025/03/14(金) 05:54
They need to put a lot of these mods in the vanilla game for us console players
@CJ-Snape2025/03/14(金) 04:55
I’m a long term Xbox player of Valheim, but now have a PC that can also play it. I’m wondering how mods work with hosted servers - do mods tie to worlds or characters? If I have a few of these type of mods enabled and an Xbox user joins - what happens?
@dangerface3002025/03/15(土) 12:29
If you're using your Microsoft "xbox" copy to play on pc, you might have trouble running mods because all the files are steamed from an encrypted directory on your pc. I'm not saying you can't because I've not tried, but I'd be surprised if you didn't need to pick up a copy of Valheim from another store.
@wrenmo26602025/03/14(金) 04:01
whats not vanilla feeling about a completely modded deep north?
@thomasahlstrom97112025/03/14(金) 03:46
The game really takes off when you use some mods. I love to add QoL mods like item sorter and planting mods, but one of the best one to really make Valheim great is a mod called Epic Loot. You get stronger but the mobs also get stronger. The game in itself is amazing but after hundreds and hundreds of hours it is nice to play around with mods :)
@TimothyLake-k3v2025/03/14(金) 03:00
Need that Valkyrie mod so bad
@Schoofsrl2025/03/14(金) 02:27
yo, how do you use the deezmistyballs mod? cant figure out how to change it's range
@Gary-e4h2025/03/14(金) 01:47
I agree with guy who said armour slots and backpack should be vanilla already, without one exception. The backpack should have levels, like in the start a small pack with only a few slots, but then either upgrade for more slots in workbench, or craft higher level ones at bench as you advance. Like some leather for a day 8 slots one, then maybe wolf fur to expand to 12 lox to 18 ect. Maybe even add a sleeping bag to carry for funnsies, cause I know a bed cheap enough, but if I see a bedroll, I'd be cool to make it usable, like maybe only need a fire and no shelter, or not need a fire at all and only shelter or something. Also maybe cool to have a belt mod for a belt that can say hold one non weapon tool like hammer or pick, and like 3 slots for meads. Just a thought.
@Kradily2025/03/14(金) 12:18
Still love whackymmo mod the best out of all mods simply letting me raise my stats by a leveling system just feels right, game stitch just don't sit right with how you gain skills but no strength, stamina, etc etc to build upon said skills...
Also shout out to almanac mod its a pretty good leveling mod as well.

@noahodum97372025/03/16(日) 06:45
I found both of these mods to be rather lacking in the experience. I didn't feel as though it augmented the base game but rather completely changed it. Wasn't for me, but probably good for you
@genesisdigitalyt2025/03/15(土) 07:20
:o I covered both of those mods myself because of how good they are!
@AlycyaJane2025/03/14(金) 10:49
My favourite QoL mods are FarmGrid (for neat, organised, perfectly-spaced rows of crops), the Clock mod on "fuzzy" time settings, Vikings Do Swim, Use Equipment in Water and Ore Support that shows you where ore is supported - no more guessing which bit of dirt you need to mine out to release that whole silver vein in one hit.
@vja19702025/03/16(日) 06:45
Use Equipment in water sounds interesting. I have been wanting to make the canal alot deeper that we terraformed from the ocean to our base !... Thanks for this..
@jeremywiggs54172025/03/14(金) 10:15
I wish Valheim would embrace and support a system for mods within the game like ARK - So easy and simple.
@oldfartrick2025/03/14(金) 10:09
Infinity hammer is not a QoL mod, it is a God tool.
@NickRawcliffe2025/03/14(金) 10:13
Haha true
@DanishMcGee2025/03/14(金) 09:57
Crazy timing ... I saw Valheim just went to 50% off for Steam's sale and am finally biting the hook after watching friends play for like two years, heh...they run with mods and this is perfect. Thanks and cheers, Nick! ❤🔥

To hard to even keep mods up for this game anymore. Most modders have abandoned this game due to the Devs intentionally putting out a tiny patch every few days, in order to screw up the modding community that the Devs say they never wanted.
@D.M.Transcendent2025/03/16(日) 12:30
@ yeah idk where you’re reading that. Some people still update, but like you said, it can be up to a week at times, when they release a tiny patch every few days. That’s done on purpose and has been stated by the devs.
I’d still play this if my mods didnt bust every few days..

@noahodum97372025/03/16(日) 06:50
The most common mods, like in my comment on this post are updated every patch cycle within a week of the patch dropping. The devs openly play with mods when they play as well as work with several of the ModDevs to make the game more accessible to them.
@janosd4nuke2025/03/14(金) 08:38
I feel you man, I dropped Valheim last time when Ashlands released... wasn't in the mood to fiddle around with mods.
Then came back last week figuring most mods are Bog Witch compatible probably. Spent a whole afternoon rearranging my pack. Then boom, a small shader update released next morning and promptly broke Willybach HD and a few others.
Tho the Steam launcher now has the ability to run each version prior to big updates, so it's not as bad.

I stopped using plant everything. It breaks the game, because you stop exploring the world because you no longer have to search for berries and mushrooms.
@No-One.3212025/03/16(日) 03:32
@@pinktr_ee seriously lol. Says it breaks the game but all it does is make it easier
@opethmike2025/03/14(金) 05:45
@@pinktr_ee I agree. It simply reduces hours of tedium.
@pinktr_ee2025/03/14(金) 03:39
that doesn't necessarily break the game lol
@NORKIE2025/03/14(金) 01:53
Base valheim needs most of these tbh, smaller inventory and the need for bags, belts and backpacks would be AMAZING!
@joshp55632025/03/14(金) 01:12
Seasons.
Check out Seasons (by Shudnal). Gives all 4 seasons with their own benefit/detriment. For example, in winter, plants do not grow and will die if planted BUT animals that drop food items (such as deer or boar) drop double their usual amount of meat (this scales with starred mobs as well). Graphically, it adds a lot to the normally static color scheme of different biomes.

I have tried Seasonality, a mod that changes seasons every two days, and agree that it adds a more dynamic feel to the game. Also. being able to run across the icy oceans on winter days is a nice perk to an otherwise vanilla experience.

Wish the devs would integrate the steam workshop already, makes managing mods much easier
@noahodum97372025/03/16(日) 06:52
SteamWorkshop is absolutely awful for mod integration. Thunderstore is the best. The devs have openly stated that they want to make the game (When it's finished... 1.0) very mod friendly.
@genesisdigitalyt2025/03/15(土) 07:22
No, No you dont. Steam Workshop is not favorable to custom code.
@marcadenexus2025/03/14(金) 03:56
I wouldn't be surprised if they do that for or after 1.0 has been released.
@Archuhi32025/03/13(木) 11:52
I never understood why there wasnt a 9th slot or why they havent added gear and hotbar slots yet separate from real inventory, a better way to move items like a backpack or packmule that has a heavier carry slot.
Why not a small inventory in the start and as you progress you can make better and better backpacks or sacks to store things and you inventory space gets bigger each upgrade. Or why bot a carrying stat so you can level up how much you can carry by 500 at lv 100... the bag upgrade does bot suffice for end game play. And the power for just 1k carry weight is nit worth it when youre already at end game. Doesnt make sense.

You can build in dungeons without mods. There is a setkey command that allows building inside dungeons

Valheimplus not mentioned? Or I missed it? With V+ you can make a bunch of changes about almost any game mechanics
@mr.meanwhile2025/03/14(金) 10:53
@DanishMcGee They basically threatened to get certain mod authors banned on forums, get their mods blacklisted or just to plain lie how horrible said person was. There also has been a surfacing of a message from someone on the V+ team saying "we will just rip your code and implement it that way anyway."
@DanishMcGee2025/03/14(金) 10:22
@@mr.meanwhile As a C++ and .lua wrangler a couple decades, I always like to illume that many mods, and indeed apps and whole platforms, are riffs on 'copy/paste' of "code that came before 'em." It's 100% lame if the Valheim+ author(s) is ( or DID, rather ... V+ has been "under new management" awhile now vs. the original team ) just blatantly ripping-off others' work that other mod authors ask for donations for. I don't know the mods / authors of whatever Valheim+ may have borrowed from, and if they're donation-supported, vs. free labors-of-love with no asks of players. If they do seek dono's for the time they put in, and if the original V+ team did just rip off whole pieces of code without asking/credit, that blows chunks.
@janosd4nuke2025/03/14(金) 08:31
@@mr.meanwhile never knew that, I just preferred smaller tailormade mods and V+ conflicted because it touches soo many aspects of the game.
But that's a big reason beyond practicality. Absolutely never gonna touch it again.

Valheim plus is a collaboration of mods, almost all of which have been integrated in to it without consent through threats, blackmail, extortion or just plain copying and pasting a mod in the pack without any notification to the original mod author.
It should be shunned and banned.

like how it is ghostly as we are About to build it…
should be able to pick up and shift around the room without destroy.
And also, carry a prebuilt item like the workbench as a Workbench, not ten wood.
Carry the workbench upgrade items as prebuilt In inv, a whole tanning rack. not several stacks of components…

Just started playing about a month ago, idk why they havent done this or optomized the weight cap and certain items yet. Half the game is ticking through how much of what stack or walking encumbered everywhere.
Having the ability to pocket premade buildings and workbenches would be cool too. So when moving things around you can drop just the workbench and not 4 separate items filling already said small inventory.
