I'm happy the studio dropped their ambitions of also being a graphics studio and embraced Unreal Engine. Hopefully this means they can focus on the soul of Halo vs split resources, and ultimately be more nimble.

With Unreal Engine 5 every doofus can create good-looking games, even better-looking ones than what is shown by 343-Studios here. The thing is 343-Studios can't deliver a good game. Microsoft shut down Tango Gameworks after delivering the critically acclaimed game Hifi-Rush, but 343-Studios is allowed to keep going after delivering mediocre games. You can rename yourself as often as you want, but that won't change your core.

Sorry to break it down but graphics is not the solution, Halo 2 and 3 had Excellent multiplayer Maps on release, Halo 4 started nickeling and diming for maps, and Halo Infinite they totally forgot how to make a decent multiplayer map. Start with the maps and multiplayer modes then we can talk about graphics. Halo has a trademark Capture the Flag like no other FPS and they don't even take advantage of it.

Honestly, every iteration of the recent Unreal engine in game vs prerendered have been massive downgrades. Looks great for showcase but upon release so many games on UE5 look jagged, shudders, and other little graphical glitches. And that really ruins the emersion. Frankly, it's a cookie cutter engine and it shows. Stick to a proprietary engine and focus on a good story.
