This is something that should 100% be added to console. While Skyrim isn't a 1:1 comparison as it is single player, adding local support for mods via their Creation Club (minus the monetization please) is a revitalizing addition to the experience of long time players.

I like all these ideas, get mods in some form on Xbox, I predominantly play on PC but my mates still play console, and they deserve to play the same if not similar Halo. Yes mods on Xbox would be nice, but I would rather not waste the devs time and resources on this. I felt the same way when they added new multiplayer maps for Halo 3 on MCC. As much as I love Bungie Halos, it’s time to end support so they can fully focus on Halo 7. I still play the campaigns and multiplayer on MCC but I think 343 needs all there resources to make a Halo game on par with the Bungie games.

Extra emphasis on held together with duct tape, trying to play co-op with my buddies on Xbox comes with all sorts of issues by itself, let alone everything else. That said, it does kind of suck not being able to experience even just stuff like the Halo 2 E3 mission on Xbox. Not everyone has the money, space or time to invest in PC stuff so it would be kind of nice. The investment required for mods on Xbox to happen is also understandable, but like even having problems playing with my buddies on the campaign is just a big let down when all of us knew it wasn't our connections.

P.S. I wanna play the Halo 2 e3 demo so bad😢

I think the truly easiest option for player to play mods is to allow Xbox MCC to connect to Steam Workshop servers. But the really, REALLY difficult part of that is licensing. If I remember right, Steam and Microsoft don't have too good a relationship but I can only hope they'd be able to pull off something of this magnitude.

I think your point about taking revenue away from micro transactions in Infinite is the part that Microsoft cares about. This is the era in gaming where publishers don't even want you playing their own games if it doesn't have a sufficient store front and monetization model.

Hobbyists developing Android apps can put their Android device into developer mode to be able to install their own apps and test them on the device. So why not do something similar to get MCC mods onto the Xbox? Provide some way of copying mod files from the PC onto the console which automatically sets your lobby to 'invite only' so random players can't join a modded game accidentally? Gets round the problem of cheaters and testing to a degree.

I think mods will attract people into the “Halo ecosystem.” Just like people still playing Skyrim and Fallout 4 (which have mods), were hyped about Starfield (until it turned out to be a nothingburger). As cool as mods on Xbox would be, you hit the nail on the head with the content moderation and QA aspects. The ROI for adding mods and continuing to support MCC just isn't there, especially considering that the game is on gamepass. People don't seek out halo to play mods like Skyrim or Fallout games.
