For the record, nothing changes because, suddenly, they're using Unreal. I work at MS, the studio I work is First Party and uses Unreal, 18/6 contracts suck and definitely still do impact the studios ability to output. So please, keep on pushing against the 18/6 contracts. Please.

I find it funny that people hate the 'we hired people who hate Halo' line, arguing that's not passion... but Halo fans, the most passionate, are literally the most critical of the games. And people don't make that connection?! You have to be critical of something, you have to "hate" it, in order to help it grow beyond its original constraints because you care about it.
The simple fact is, gamers do not understand creativity, they don't understand art. 343 dared to be honest about their process (a process every game studio follows), instead of flowering it up with words that make the gamer "feel nice," and they got punished for it. You're the reason we will never have honesty in developer communication.

IMHO you're looking at it from the wrong angle. Microsoft has the money to no have to rotate contractors and provide benefits after the 18 month cycle concludes. What's terrible is MS being greedy and saving a buck here, not the fact that new contractors need to be trained, specifically. I'm sure that if the project elongates they will still rotate contractors. Kind of a shitty policy imo

I dont see any universe where the next game isn't lacking. New engine, hiring practices are the same, contract work is still implemented heavily, and the infinite store is still full of greed.

To that guy saying halo is looking to make a comeback because it’s gonna be on unreal engine, clearly doesn’t know that the engine of halo infinite, while horribly put together and designed, wasn’t the core issue of halo infinite. It’s what led to the horribly designed engine that’s the core issue. And so far all the signs from 343 in regards of the future, are that they haven’t learned anything. Including the contracting policy. So far there’s nothing to be excited or hopeful for. I could be proven wrong down the road, but not right now. Their recent hirings, unchanging methods of (lack of) communication with the community, and treatment of the fanbase (with the shop in particular) shows no change in how the old Bonnie Ross 343 operated and how this new 343 operates… so far.

I sure af aint working for 343! Im gonna build my own FPS in unreal engine. Not letting 90% of my creativity go unused and the other 10% Getting converted into MACROtransactions. Regarding Halo Studios changing in any way compared to when they were called 343, ill believe it when I see it. Its all talk at this point. Release your game and we will judge you based on that. Im tired of giving company's like Microsoft, Halo Studios/343 the benefit of the doubt before the next game releases thinking its going to be good. Also the fact the games haven't held player bases since H4 tells a lot about what people think about 343 Halo. Its not just bad launches, although that plays a role in their failures to hold players. Its also gameplay, mtx, lacking community and social features and so on. If the next game isn't content complete (meaning whatever Halo Reach had at a minimum) its likely going to be a failure.

We need to talk about the new weapons, when are we getting our “Unique Variant” of the MA5K? When will it show up in the Armory? When will it and the Bandit be put in the Campaign? They need to put some more work in to THAT aspect, the Mutilator had better be in the Campaign too.
